ABOUT THE ARTIST

I have loved photography since the first time my parents gave me a Kodak Instamatic when I was 10 years old. I got involved in high school and built a dark room in my parents garage. I put my camera down for a while when my life filled up with, what I thought, were more important things, but my camera was never too far away from me. On and off throughout my life photography has drawn me to places as far away as India and Africa and as close as my own kids right at home. I am fortunate enough to have an incredible cattle ranch in our family that inspires me to capture its obvious beauty when it’s full of spring flowers, and its hidden images in the heat of a dry summer. Part of my soul is scattered throughout the ranch and all the places in the world that I’ve been lucky enough to walk through.

I was born in San Francisco and grew up in Los Altos, California where I still live with my wife Laura and our three kids Brett, Sky and Summer. The kids are all in college now, which gives Laura and I time to go places and uncover more hidden images. I hope I am able to give people a chance to see the world in a way that they hadn’t seen it before. That idea is in my head every time I lift a camera to my eye. - Billy Reeves
